Red Sky in Morning....

THE STORY BEHIND THE PAINTING
"Red Sky in Morning" brings to mind the old maritime adage, "red sky at night, sailor's delight; red sky in morning, sailor's warning".   This saying is as old as the Bible (Matthew) and used by Shakespeare in his play "Venus and Adonis".  Who knew?!?!   There is some scientific reasons for this - a red sunrise signifies that a high pressure system (good weather) has passed and stormy weather may be moving eastward.  The deep, fiery red in the sky is due to high water content in the atmosphere and light passing through particles.  But the most amazing thing is to see the sky ablaze with shades of red - it almost doesn't seem real, it is so breath-taking in person.  Very difficult to paint and have it seem like it really exists - but the intent is to share this incredible happening in nature over the water.  Hope you get to see such a thing for yourself if you haven't already!  You won't forget it.
