With Baited Breath

The inspiration for this oil painting was the light.  Nestled into the rocky Maine coast, this building was once an old bait house. One can imagine pulling up to the boat dock in the rear for fresh bait on the way to a day of fishing in those chilly waters.  For me, the side of the building and the tall grasses bathed in gold with the red roof said "paint" rather than fish.  I love the simplicity and colors of this painting and enjoyed the feeling of serenity and a bit of nostalgia for times gone by while working on it.
